Công ty Urban Aeronautics (UA) của Israel đã thử nghiệm thành công loại xe có thể di chuyển trên không và hy vọng sẽ đưa phiên bản hoàn chỉnh có tên X-Hawk ra thị trường vào năm 2010.
Theo AP, không chỉ là phương tiện đi lại tiện lợi, X-Hawk còn rất hữu ích trong việc cứu người trong các vụ cháy nhà cao tầng, thảm họa thiên nhiên hoặc giải cứu binh sĩ đang bị kẻ thù bao vây...
So với trực thăng, X-Hawk có nhiều lợi thế hơn như gây ra ít tiếng ồn, gọn nhẹ nên tiếp cận mục tiêu dễ dàng. X-Hawk cất cánh theo chiều thẳng đứng và bay được trong vòng 2 giờ với vận tốc 185 km/giờ và độ cao tối đa đạt được là 3.657m. Mỗi chiếc X-Hawk có giá dự tính là 3,5 triệu USD.

X-Hawk is a ‘rotorless’ Vertical-Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. To be more precise, it is an aircraft that has the VTOL capability of a helicopter, but without the exposed rotors that make it dangerous or impossible for helicopters to maneuver in complex urban and natural environments.
Moreover, X-Hawk’s modular cargo bay allows for tailor-made, task specific configurations that enable this aircraft to be an all-around workhorse. Some of the most obvious applications include, aerial medical access and evacuation, power-line maintenance, bridge inspection and ship-to-shore taxi service, to name a few.
