Severe peak season forecast for swine flu - 9 Sep 2009

Cases continue to rise on Chinese university campuses, with senior epidemiologist Zeng Guang at China’s Center for Disease Control stating, “The recent clusters of school outbreaks are just the start of the peak season, which will feature widespread infections.
The virus will definitely sicken more people, with new infections rising more quickly than before, though no mutations have so far been detected. The total cases nationwide will soon double to 10,000.”

In Formosa (Taiwan), where critically ill swine flu afflicted rose in number over the weekend, patients have begun flooding hospitals with flu-like symptoms, prompting an expansion of outpatient diagnosis services. In the southern hemisphere, where the first wave of swine flu had subsided, a second wave is beginning in Mexico where 400 cases were reported in two days, along with eight deaths.

In Ecuador, following a prolonged, 28-day hospital stay, Lt. Col. John Merino, Security Chief to President Rafael Correa, succumbed to the deadly swine flu on Sunday. He is now among the 3,491 lives sadly lost since April due to the pandemic, which has afflicted persons across 180 countries in numbers too large to count. Other recent reports of fatalities include totals of at least 17 and 18 in New Zealand and Singapore, respectively.

Our condolences go to the grieving loved ones of all swine flu victims including Lt. Col. Merino. With Heaven’s grace, may such human and animal diseases cease to exist through a global shift to the nutrient-rich vegan diet.

Pandemic conditions prevalent in all livestock raising - 10 Sep 2009

Over the last decade, as sporadic outbreaks of the deadly bird flu virus began to catch many scientists’ attention, close surveillance was maintained of birds on poultry farms. Prominent bird flu expert and microbiologist Dr. Guan Yi of the University of Hong Kong stated that although it wasn’t detected until recently, the swine flu virus had likely been circulating for some time throughout pig herds.

Dr. Guan Yi – Microbiologist, University of Hong Kong (M): We bring more animals together, whether pig or birds, we have more chance for outbreak [of] emerging infectious disease, have more rising risk effect.

VOICE: Dr. Guan Yi commented about the further uncertainty of the future path of this pandemic.

Dr. Guan Yi (M): If the infection severity is high and high, then it’s big trouble for each country. When you’re facing a pandemic, every country is the same, because all the whole population globally has lack of enough antibodies.

VOICE: The global toll to date of the swine flu has jumped by 127 cases within 48 hours to 3,529. The world’s infected population is many times official totals, ranging in the millions and counting. Nearly 400 of the newest cases are from Europe, with the vast majority being confirmed in Germany. French officials ordered one-week closure of schools in several regions. As swine flu cases surge in every province in China, new fatalities have been announced in Hong Kong, Formosa (Taiwan), Âu Lạc (Vietnam), and the United Arab Emirates. In Argentina, which has one of the highest infection rates in the world, the death toll increased from 465 to 512 in just 10 days.

We thank Dr. Guan Yi for sharing his informed concern as we pray for all those struggling with the impact of swine flu. May all the afflicted recover, as we look forward to a widespread adoption of the safest vegan diet as the ultimate protection from such tragic disease.

Swine flu cases mounting steeply across schools - 11 Sep 2009

In a two-week survey, the American College Health Association in the US found that 73 percent, or 149 out of 204 participating universities, had a total of 4,045 new swine flu cases.

The highest rates reported were in the southeast and Midwestern regions.
At the Gordonstoun School in Moray, UK, where some swine flu cases have been confirmed, 118 of 603 students were absent at the same time.

Fear of a suspected outbreak led the school to suggest the cancellation of a planned visit by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Swine flu cases globally are too many to count, as most go unreported. The number of swine flu deaths across the globe continues to rise, with the latest total being 3,555 fatalities. In Europe, where so far 127 people have succumbed, cases jumped by more than 440 within 24 hours, mostly in Portugal, Greece and Germany.

Thailand reported 12 new deaths, bringing the country’s total to 142. A 77-year-old man became the 18th fatality in South Australia.

South Africa has now lost 31 people to swine flu, while the death toll in Central America has grown to 91, including 33 in Costa Rica, 17 in El Salvador, 13 in Honduras, 12 in Panama, and 6 in Nicaragua.

We pray for all the world’s protection from this pandemic, including the vulnerable children and youth returning to school. May the day come quickly when such viral threats are minimized as people young and old alike adopt of the worry-free, preventive organic vegan lifestyle.

Swine flu victims more susceptible to lung damage - 12 Sep 2009

At a meeting of swine flu experts last week in Canada, it was reported that the swine flu virus is causing the often deadly acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) 100 times more frequently than seasonal flu.
In the past two months alone, 33 percent of hospitalized patients required treatment in intensive care with such conditions.

A rise in this rate is feared as a second wave in the northern hemisphere is now anticipated. Researchers at the Imperial College of London in the UK explain that unlike seasonal flu, the swine flu virus is able to directly inflict cells deep in the lungs, thus causing more damage.

A random viral mutation, the scientists further warned, could lead to an even more strongly attacking strain.
Globally, swine flu fatalities have jumped to 3,593, with total cases now deemed by international health officials as being too many to track.

At the national level, Iran has confirmed 357 swine flu cases. Malawi joined the list of afflicted African countries with her first officially confirmed case. Meanwhile, Israel reported the first case of a patient who showed
resistance to the antiviral medicine Tamiflu.

In Scotland, Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon announced plans for doubling hospital beds to nearly 400, to accommodate the children and adults suffering from severe cases of the swine flu.
Hospitalizations have also climbed steeply in Formosa (Taiwan), where as many as 13 patients were hospitalized in one day, bringing the number of such seriously ill to 174.

Our gratitude, international officials and researchers for your efforts to understand and mitigate the swine flu virus’ impact. As a global population, let us all protect ourselves through the virtuous and wholesome safety of the plant-based diet.

Tamiflu-resistant swine flu strains mean diminishing effectiveness - 13 Sep 2009

Two girls in the United States who were given the anti-viral Tamiflu as a precautionary measure at summer camp have developed a swine flu virus strain that resisted the medicine.

Also, a 38-year-old Perth man became the first person in Australia to develop resistance to Tamiflu.
Although this is a typical process that occurs over time, health officials try to ensure the effectiveness of the anti-viral medicines for as long as possible.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization (WHO) both have recommended against taking Tamiflu unless swine flu has been diagnosed, to minimize the chance of resistance and extend the anti-viral’s effectiveness for as long as possible.

A newborn in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) has become the youngest in the country to contract swine flu, as health officials there confirmed 205 new cases, bringing the total number to 4,265.

Macau reported 63 new cases, bringing the total to 1,581, and Formosa (Taiwan) noted a rise in clusters of cases as the new school year begins. The Formosan Central Epidemic Command Center reported that 317 classes across 229 elementary, junior high and high schools were suspended as part of a plan to halt classes for 5 days if more than two pupils contracted the flu.

Formosa also reported her 12th death. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that based upon recent experience, school closure appears to be effective in slowing the rate of transmission of swine flu, although the effect is only temporary.

Worldwide, 3,606 people have succumbed to the pandemic, an increase of 51 fatalities over two days. Equally alarming is the fact that the swine flu cases confirmed worldwide, which number in the hundreds of thousands, are a gross underestimate of the true total.

Our continued appreciation for the efforts of health and education officials to protect people’s health. We join in concern and grief for all those afflicted by this contagion, and pray that all turn towards a life in balance with nature and animal co-inhabitants for the shielding of global health.

Swine flu most severely afflicts the young and healthy - 16 Sep 2009

At a conference in Austria held this week, World Health Organization (WHO) expert Sin Lun Tam stated that 40 percent of the most severe swine flu cases are occurring in otherwise healthy people under the age of 20, with the highest fatality rates being among those between ages 25 and 49.

In addition, he noted that up to 30 percent of all hospitalizations led to intensive care treatment. A study in Spain found similarly that 50 percent of critically ill swine flu patients admitted to hospital intensive care units were healthy people.

Although flu season is seasonally scheduled to come to an end in the Southern Hemisphere, countries such as Australia and Argentina are now expecting a second wave of infections, based on typical viral behavior.

Tracy Oakman, who directs the New South Wales public health unit in Australia, stated, “There may be a second wave of swine flu influenza cases and that often happens because the virus can mutate and then make more cases come again.”

There are now 3,696 lost lives worldwide on account of this pandemic. The total population of swine flu victims is too widespread to know the exact figure.

Mainland China, however, has confirmed nearly 1,600 cases within a 3-day period, for a total of 9,103, with officials stating that 80 percent of large-scale group infections have been emerging from school-related activities.

Universities in the Washington, DC area of the US are also seeing rapidly growing rates of swine flu. Across the world, fatalities continue to rise, as Argentina announced a death toll of 514 and India, 188 lives lost.
Formosa (Taiwan) as well as Âu Lạc (Vietnam) and Israel have each lost a young woman to the swine flu virus who passed away shortly giving birth.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) hosted a meeting of world health ministries and agencies from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, and Thailand to share information and find ways to cope with a pandemic that is showing no signs of diminishing.

We thank the government officials, agencies and all others who are working to minimize the swine flu virus’ harm to people.

It pains us to know such diseases may strike repeatedly, attacking even our future generations. We pray that everyone soon understands the preventable nature of this illness, finding sure refuge in the animal-free diet.

Swine flu contagious longer than previous estimates - 18 Sep 2009

Medical experts have been advising those with swine flu to avoid contact with people until a day after their fever passes. However, new research studies from Canada, Mexico and Singapore all found that swine flu could be contagious for much longer.

Scientists found that 19 to 75 percent of those who had contracted the swine flu still showed signs of contagion eight days after first contracting the flu.

Dr. Gaston De Serres from the Institute of Public Health in Quebec, Canada, stated,“This study shows you're not contagious for a day or two. You're probably contagious for about a week.”

Attempts to confirm all human swine flu infection cases have been abandoned as they occur far too frequently to accurately monitor.

The same is true for surveillance of the world’s pig farms, whose animals also become infected and die. However, in the United States, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that there are more than 1 million cases of infection and around 600 fatalities.

China’s swine flu cases have reached 10,000, with more than 1,100 new cases reported this week. Hong Kong reported 19,370 total cases, 683 of which were new and reported within a 24-hour period.

Iran’s swine flu deaths reached four, while India’s climbed to 212, Malaysia’s to 76, and Thailand’s to 153. The global death toll is now 4,013, which means 262 more people have succumbed since the tally made one day before.

We appreciate the researchers’ findings of new information on the swine flu, and pray for protection of the global population.

Our sincere sympathies for those who have lost loved ones to this unnecessary zoonotic disease.
May all find refuge in an immune-boosting vegan diet to prevent future pandemics as these.

More swine flu troubles in schools worldwide - 19 Sep 2009

Romania is among the latest to report her first cluster of swine flu cases within a high school, and has suspended classes for a week. Going further, Egypt has ordered all educational institutions closed to prevent swine flu spread. As children return to school across the northern hemisphere, swine flu cases are
beginning to rise in England, United Kingdom again, with an estimated 5,000 new cases reported last week.
The number of cases in Scotland, United Kingdom also doubled within a week.

Meanwhile, two new Tamiflu-resistant cases were also found in England, adding to a growing list that reveals the virus strains are mutating.

US health experts warn that diabetics are three times more likely to contract swine flu than the rest of the population, and that death rates among diabetics from the flu may increase up to 15 percent during pandemics.

Yet, swine flu fatalities in otherwise healthy people are joining the at-risk groups in making up the global death toll, which now stands at 4,041.

People who have perished in Brazil rose to 899, as Europe reported 653 new cases in the last 24 hours. Global cases, estimated in the millions, are said to be far too many to record.

In the face of these troubling statistics each day, we sorrow for the lives lost and suffering due to this illness. May we see the widespread adoption of a vegan diet to effectively and easily prevent many such afflictions for good.

Northern Ireland pig herd catches swine flu - 20 Sep 2009

The herd is the first in Europe to have caught this strain of the flu, which is a mixture of pig, bird and human viruses. Virologists have raised a concern that swine flu passed back onto pigs could pick up another strain and become even more deadly when passed back onto humans.

Therefore, Northern Ireland’s chief veterinarian has urged farmers with swine flu to avoid proximity with their pigs so as not to aid new viral formations.

Since April, overall fatalities have now reached 4,041 across the globe, as total cases have been long left untracked because they are too numerous to accurately follow.

Of the latest added casualties, one youth has perished in Singapore, as well as a child under age 6 in the US and on the French Island of Martinique.

In India, human losses rose to 233, and in the capital of New Delhi cases jumped by more than 100 within one day to 1,589, with nearly 70% of these new infections being children. Europe reported an alarming 944 new cases within 24 hours.

As a response measure, Kuwait, which saw a rise to over 2,400 cases, is training up to 250,000 teachers in an effort to protect against the spread of the swine flu. The continued mounting toll and risks of swine flu saddens us, and we pray for the safe recovery of all in hospitals as well as the comfort of those mourning.

We look forward to the day when animal farms – and the diseases they spawn – are no more, for the health of the entire world.

    Default 133. Swine Flu Update

Swine flu on the rise in Asia-Pacific - 21 Sep 2009

The fatal strain is proving its virulence as it now has spread across 94 countries and sickened more than 52,000 people while causing the loss of over 230 lives. Two more countries, Brunei and Iran, have diagnosed their first-ever occurrences of the swine flu.

In the Asia-Pacific region, New Zealand reported 258 new cases within the past week, and health officials said they expect a large increase in the coming months with currently an additional 728 suspected cases needing evaluation.

Hong Kong and Bangkok, Thailand each have approximately 300-some confirmed cases, while China and the Philippines have around 420 each.

Even the South Pacific islands of Samoa, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea are affected. Like many other first-ever cases, travel to and from another country seem to be a factor of swine flu infection.

Meanwhile, Australia now has more than 2,400 confirmed cases after seeing over the weekend its first swine flu-related fatality, the second outside the Americas, of an Aboriginal artist.

Concerns have been raised as to whether the virus could be more fatal for such remote communities with relatively high rates of other health problems.

We continue to be saddened by the reality of this distressing and costly trend.
Our sympathies for those who have suffered loss as we pray for the quick recovery of persons stricken by the swine flu. Meanwhile, may governments worldwide implement the best policy to protect public health, by putting an end to raising animal operations and promoting the organic plant-based diet to fulfill a promise of
    vitality and well-being for all.

    Default 134. Swine Flu Update

Swine flu season starts early with steep climb in numbers - 22 Sep 2009

Since the global pandemic status was announced in April, millions of people of all ages throughout at least 180 countries have been afflicted. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the autumn flu season has begun earlier this year, with Dr. Jay Butler affirming a very high
incidence of swine flu as he stated, “Nearly all of the influenza that we’re seeing is the novel H1N1 virus.”

Thousands of families have mourned sudden losses, as more than 4,041 people perished from attacks by the swine flu virus.

In updates of some of the seriously affected countries: In Mexico, swine flu cases surged by 1,341 in just three days, with total cases now standing at 26,338.

Japan experienced a one-week increase of 30,000 cases to a total of 180,000 amid reports that swine flu continues to spread rapidly among teenagers in major cities.

Outbreaks are also far from being controlled in US universities, where a recent 21 percent increase has been seen and schools like Paul Smith’s College in New York, USA are setting aside entire dormitories to house students diagnosed with swine flu.

In fact, health experts are now advising college students living in close proximity to wear masks and frequently wash their hands in an effort to limit the spread of the swine flu.

With no one really immune to the virus, serious cases and fatalities are inevitable. A 45-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman became the first deaths in Mozambique, as Formosa (Taiwan) reported yet another 11 new hospitalizations. Oman, which has seen 18 deaths and 2,000 cases of swine flu, cancelled her internationally celebrated Muscat Festival out of concerns for public health.

Meanwhile, Egyptian officials are monitoring swine flu cases in the Cairo airport as pilgrims begin returning from Saudi Arabian holy sites.

With our condolences for those suffering loss, we join the world in prayer for the end of this ordeal, including the threat of new pandemics. May our knowledge that the ultimate source of many dangerous diseases is our meat-eating habit steer us instead toward the needed change of the organic vegan lifestyle that will spare both
    humankind and animals.

Swine flu continues to most severely afflict the young - 22 Sep 2009

Medical researchers report that approximately 79 percent of confirmed swine flu cases are in people under the age of 30, compared to 2 percent in peopleage 60 or over.

Such concerns are among the topics that will be discussed in the upcoming Western Pacific meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO), where the focus will be on treating swine flu in developing nations, whose populations are more e to infection due to poverty, crowded living conditions and insufficient access
    to health care.

Across the globe, eight students in one western Ugandan school have been confirmed to have swine flu, bringing the total officially recorded cases to 24, while the confirmed cases in Macau, China increased by 43, bringing the total to 2,348.

Russia also reported her first swine flu death. Fatalities to date worldwide are surpassing 4,092 as swine flu continues to spread rapidly, with the infection rate too fast to realistically tally.

Meanwhile, a Harvard Business School study in the US found that around 66 percent of businesses would not be able to maintain normal operations if half their workers needed to be absent for a month to cope with swine flu.

Our empathy for the pain of loved ones who have suffered loss to this infectious disease. Our appreciation, World Health Organization and all others working to secure public health as we pray that everyone adopt the life-sparing and immune boosting plant-based diet.

Factory farms linked to severe and widespread disease - 23 Sep 2009

A two-and-a-half year assessment of the impacts of factory farms in the United States has led the highly respected Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production to declare that these operations pose unacceptable health risks, as seen in the threat presented by the H1N1 swine flu pandemic.

Supreme Master Television interviewed Robert P. Martin, Executive Director of the former Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production.

    (Telephone interview in English)
Bob Martin – Executive director of Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production (M): We were particularly concerned about the scenario that seems to have developed or unfolded with this current flu outbreak.

VOICE: A typical industrial swine farm confines thousands pigs who are waiting for slaughter. In poor health due to the constant stress of overcrowding, darkness, stifling heat and perpetual contact with their own waste, farmed pigs are unwittingly involved in the creation of new and potentially lethal viruses.

Moreover, multiple pig herds, in Canada, Australia, and Northern Ireland in the UK, have been found to be infected with the same swine flu virus currently circulating in humans.

Bob Martin (M): It escalates the evolution process, where it might take years for it to develop out naturally.
This happens very quickly because the pigs are so close together they can pass the virus back and forth and it mutates, can strengthen or change, and then it can be passed to the people working there; where it again mutates and changes and then can be passed back to the pigs for this continued recycling of the virus. So it shortens the time span.

VOICE: It is difficult to monitor every occurrence of swine flu in the human population, though some experts predict that up to one-third of the world’s people would eventually be afflicted.

The number of global swine flu deaths on record has just leapt by 59 over just several days to a total of 4,100 fatalities.

Formosa’s (Taiwan) death toll grew to 17 after a pregnant woman passed away. India saw 262 fatalities, 22 of which were in the past few days. After 824 students were found to have swine flu in Hong Kong, the Department of Health called for eight primary schools and three secondary schools to close down for a week to halt the spread.

Yemen’s Health Ministry announced 17 new cases, bringing the total to 183, and Estonia reported 68 cases, 11 of which are requiring hospitalizations.

Executive Director Martin and the Pew Commission, our thanks for this conclusive assessment of the serious long-term threat of farming operations on public health.

We join in sorrow for the losses of life worldwide as we pray that everyone turns away from the root source of new viruses in animal farms, choosing instead the kind, plant-based diet.

Swine flu continues to rapidly spread - 24 Sep 2009

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the number of confirmed worldwide swine flu cases exceeds 308,000, although the vast majority of infections go undiagnosed.
In the US alone, according to the country's health agency, there has been heightened flu activity across 21 states and at unusual rates for this time of year.

The US government has also stated that the first batch of more than 3 million swine flu vaccine doses will be ready by early October.

At the urging of the WHO, the United States, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom have all pledged to share some of their swine flu vaccine supplies with other countries in need.

Meanwhile, the WHO also expressed concern that 25 percent of deaths reported in the Western Pacific region, including China, Mongolia, Australia, New Zealand, and French Polynesia, occurred in people who were otherwise free of medical problems.

Though the actual number is higher than recorded, across some 180 countries,4,144 people have perished under attack from the swine flu virus.

In Europe, Spain and France have suffered the highest losses at 28 and 32, respectively.
Brazil remains the country with the most fatalities at 899, while the US has lost 593 lives to swine flu, and Argentina, 514. With 320 new cases in India, 8,477 people have thus far been afflicted, and in Âu Lạc (Vietnam), 198 new cases in one day brought the total past 7,000

It saddens us to see the grief and disrupted lives of fellow world citizens in the clutches of this pandemic.
We pray that all realize the lasting protection from such illnesses found through the preventative and virtuous plant-based diet.

Swine flu proves highly contagious with rapid transmission - 25 Sep 2009

Researchers at the University of Washington, USA found that the virus is spreading quickly, with a 27 percent chance of passing from one infected family member to another, compared to 10 percent among family members for regular flu.

The scientists also stated that the disease transmits quickly, in an average of 3 days. Officials in New York, USA recommended that office meetings be held over the phone to reduce the swine flu transmission rate.

Across the world, Egypt’s total swine flu afflicted population has risen to 901, with Jordan confirming 78 new cases in the past week, 53 of which were students.

In the Canadian province of British Columbia,up to 30 percent of the students across three schools were sent home sick. The death rate in the Dominican Republic has risen to 21, while Colombia’s 17 fatalities in the past week brings her lives lost to 82.

In Asia, Thailand has now lost 160 lives since the pandemic was declared, and Hong Kong reported 677 cases in one day as her total approaches 24,000. Within a 24-hour period, German residents were diagnosed with 192 of the total 204 European cases tallied.

All in all, international health officials have stated that global swine flu cases are far too many to track. However, fatalities as reported by individual governments have reached 4,195 according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

We urgently pray that people will be spared from the ravages of swine flu and devastating loss of a loved one. In addition to simple hygiene safeguards such as hand washing, let us consider the immune-boosting properties of a vegan diet, as well as its long term aid in preventing pandemics from ever occurring.

Children’s hospital emergency room overflows with potential swine flu victims - 26 Sep 2009

From the United Kingdom to Hong Kong, India and Zambia, schools have been closed and students quarantined. Russia has reported the first school closure due to 17 suspected infections in young children.

The Children’s Medical Center Dallas in Texas, USA has been filled with children suffering flu like symptoms, resulting in around 60 cases serious enough for hospitalization.

The hospital has set up a separate screening room for children with flu-like symptoms, mirroring the efforts of other US hospitals that have set up outdoor tents to protect the staff and other patients from swine flu exposure.

Other younger age groups remain vulnerable, as one US survey reported a 15 percent increase in university student swine flu cases, and a cumulative total of 21,000.

Across the globe, dozens of new families are in mourning, as swine flu fatalities rose by 72 to 4,216 .
South Korean officials announced that the death toll has increased to 11, while two more people passed away in Yemen and Portugal reported her first swine flu loss.

In Hungary, concern was raised about a 34-year-old man who passed away without even having shown any signs of fever when he suddenly fell ill and died at home. An autopsy confirmed his infection with swine flu.
Meanwhile, cases in mainland China recently rose by 1,319 within one day, reaching 14,581.

We pray for the people who are afflicted or have suffered the loss of a loved one to this unfortunate illness. May we join in finding ways to address the true cause of such diseases, namely eliminating animal agriculture, and regain the health of present and future generations with the preventive vegan diet.

Concern for health risks from swine flu vaccine runs high - 27 Sep 2009

A recent national poll conducted in the United States found that only 40 percent of parents were planning to vaccinate their children against swine flu, with half of those who didn’t plan to vaccinate citing concern for the possible side effects of the untested vaccine.

A French survey found similar results, with two-thirds of French citizens stating that they don’t plan to get vaccinated, and half of the respondents seeing what they called “serious risk” in the vaccine.

Amidst such safety concerns, some people are turning to holistic and natural methods to protect against the swine flu. Dr. Jamey Wallace, director of the Bastyr Natural Health Clinic at Bastyr University, an accredited naturopathic university in Washington, USA, calls for a comprehensive approach, including good nutrition, rest and exercise to reduce stress, along with avoiding sugar which weakens the immune system.

Catherine Niemiec of the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture also explained that Chinese medicine could be effective as well.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization announced that the swine flu has officially affected 318,925 people, while acknowledging that the real total is many times that figure and is too high to count.

A six-month-old baby boy has become the youngest person in Formosa (Taiwan) to require hospitalization, while in the United Kingdom, cases have jumped from 5,000 to 9,000 and the country’s Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson announced that at least 66 schools have reported new swine flu cases since opening.

Sir Liam Donaldson:“We are monitoring the resistance very carefully; there have been some resistant strains around the world. We closed some schools down for a limited period of time.”

In Uganda, about 500 people, mainly students in two high schools, have been quarantined due to a swine flu outbreak. Ireland has also reported a jump in confirmed cases to 1,300 total.

Fatalities in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) have increased to 14, while in South Africa 59 people have passed away, half of whom were pregnant women. A tragic total of 4,216 swine flu-caused fatalities have been counted to date.

Our sympathies to those mourning a loss, and prayers for the recovery of those seriously afflicted. Our appreciation Dr. Wallace and Ms. Niemiec for your suggestions on holistic approaches to defend against swine flu.

May everyone awaken to the protection of the immune-boosting vegan diet for a halt to the swine flu as well as future dangerous pandemics.
